Monmouth College launches minor in investigative forensics

Will Monmouth College produce the next Sherlock Holmes?Maybe not but students can now select a minor that could lead them down a similar career path as the famous sleuth.

Investigative forensics has been launched as a minor at the liberal arts college, spanning several different disciplines.

The minor is five-credits with one credit being a required forensic science chemistry course and four other credits from a choice of classes that include offerings from the history, psychology, communication studies and other departments.

History professor, Dr. Christine Myers who helped create the minor says that investigative forensics has become more popular with students as the subject has become more popular in media and culture.

Myers says the area of study could lead students to careers in law enforcement, criminology and journalism.
