Knox hires new Provost and Dean, Garikai Campbell

Knox College has hired their new Provost and Dean of the College in Garikai Campbell.Campbell is coming from Morehouse College in Atlanta where he served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs since 2013.

Upon his hiring Campbell said that Knox has an “extraordinarily deep commitment to liberal arts and diversity” and work hard to live up to the ideal of being an “engine of social mobility.’

Knox’s dean and provost leads all aspects of the college’s academic program which includes leading the faculty and oversight of curriculum.

He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Swathmore and earned a Ph.D in mathematics from Rutgers University.

A Knox press release lists Campbell’s accomplishments while leading at Morehouse which include securing funding for academic programs and institutional needs.

In this regard he was able to secure a $2.5 million gift to support Morehouse STEM programs.

Campbell is suceeding Laura Behling who stepped down last June to return to Knox’s faculty.

Campbell will assume his role in June.
