Q’s Cafe closing its doors at the end of February

A downtown Galesburg cafe has decided to close its doors after 13 years. Walt and Annette McAllister, owners of Q’s Cafe at 319 East Main Street, will serve its last meal at the restaurant at the end of next month.

Annette McAllister declined WGIL’s request to comment on the closing. According to the website UnifyGalesburg.com, the cafe first opened its doors on Main Street in 2004.

Walt and Annette first met as co-workers at various restaurants across the nation, but always wanted a place of their own. With two decades of being in a kitchen, when Walt McAllister saw space downtown for a possible eatery, the couple moved forward with their dream. The cafe features a limited, but always changing menu – featuring daily fresh baked bread and daily soup options.

According to the website, Q’s lease is up at the end of next month, and the McAllisters plan on taking on a “new adventure.”
