New judge in Monmouth man’s first-degree murder trial

There is a new judge presiding over the first-degree murder trial of a Monmouth man.

According to online court records, on Tuesday in Warren County Circuit Court a motion was filed on behalf of 34-year-old Drew Pearman by Warren County Public Defender Thomas R. Siegel to substitute the judge in the case.

Circuit Judge James R. Standard will be taking over for Associate Judge Patricia A. Walton in Pearman’s first-degree murder trial.

Warren County State’s Attorney Andrew Doyle told WGIL that “it is not uncommon for substitution of [a] judge to occur.”

Doyle added “Both sides get one automatic without having to show a reason why they want it.” He would also say that it happens fairly regularly.

Pearman is facing five counts of first-degree murder for the December 24th shooting death of 27-year-old Zachery D. Tally.

Tally was found dead in a residence in the 100 block of West 4th Avenue in Monmouth.

Pearman has been denied bail up until this point. He’s scheduled to be back in court on February 7th.
