A student from West Prairie High School led multiple law enforcement agencies on a high speed chase late this afternoon after making violent threats at school.McDonough County Sheriff’s deputies first received a call to respond to the high school near Sciota, Illinois around 11 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a student armed with a knife who was making threats to staff and students.

The 15-year old male student fled the school.

Deputies located him after a chase that reached speeds in excess of 100 mph but was mostly between 50 and 60 mph.

They went through Henderson County and ended in Warren County, where the subject was taken in to custody in a farm field south of Cameron.

McDonough County Sheriff Rick Van Brooker says that four squad cars from different agencies involved in the pursuit were damaged because of the subject “ramming or attempting to ram them.”

Also the truck that the juvenile was driving was reportedly stolen.

No injuries were reported at West Prairie High School but they put the facility on lockdown during the incident.

West Central School District also went on lockdown as the chase entered Henderson County.

West Prairie District 103 Superintendent Dr. Carol Kilver was contacted for comment with no response.

Sheriff VanBrooker says the juvenile was taken into custody at the Mary Davis Home in Galesburg and is facing charges, the most serious of which include Aggravated Battery and theft of a motor vehicle.
