Women’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings upcoming at Knox Community Health Center

The Knox Community Health Center will be offering clinical breast exams and Pap/HPV tests on January 29th and 31st and February 1st, 5th and 8th. According to the American Cancer Society, almost 13,000 cases of invasive cervical cancer will be diagnosed nationally in 2018.  Cervical cancer was once one of the most common cancers for American Women. Those numbers have decreased by nearly 50% over the past 4 decades mainly due the increased use of the Pap test. Pap tests screening tools can find changes in the cervix before cancer even develops or when it’s most curable, and the Knox Community Health Center is focused on educating women about the importance of the routine test. The health center invites women of all ages – and will serve anyone – regardless of their ability to pay and are urged to bring a +1 – like a mother, friend, or relative. The health department also provides the Gardasil vaccine – given to youth to help reduce chances of getting HPV. Women are encouraged to call and make an appointment at 344-2225.
