Some good food and good times could make up your weekend – and it’s all for good causes.
The Avon Fire Department Soup Supper gets underway Saturday at 4:00pm and lasts until 8:00pm. Serving vegetable soup and chili, the supper features sides, desserts and more all for a free will donation.
Supporters can dine-in and carry-out; and the Avon Fire Department is located at 1-05 Clinton Street in Avon.
The ROWVA FCCLA will be hosting a Chili Cook-Off competition tonight in the FCS Room. Serving time will be form 5:00pm to 8:00pm while the ROWVA Boys Basketball Hall of Fame game is occurring at the same time.
Cook-off categories are Spicy, Medium, and Mild with proceeds raised for the event going towards Second Chance Prom.
Another good cause to get involved with may also need you to get your friends involved. The Galesburg High School Baseball Team’s Music Trivia Night is Saturday night at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Galesburg.
GHS Head Baseball Coach Jeremy Pickrel says it’s more than just trivia, “There are a lot of raffles… Kohl’s Diamond Gallery has donated something.. M.C. Sports… there’s a jersey quilt… There’s a painted cooler with our logo on it. It’s been really nice to see those things pour in… Show support for the program…We’re really hoping for a really fun and big night for our program.”
The cost is $100 dollars for teams of 10. Food will be available to purchase from the KC Hall and doors open at 5:30 p.m. with trivia beginning at 6:30 p.m. To get signed up, call 335-7921.
