Galesburg woman arrested on meth possession

One woman was arrested for meth possession on Sunday night following a traffic stop near the corner of Losey and Lincoln streets in Galesburg.

According to police reports, officers pulled over a red 2005 Pontiac Sunfire with expired registration just before 8:40.

The driver, 47-year-old Wendy L. Hughs, could not present officers with a valid insurance card and allegedly had a suspended or revoked license. She was arrested and the vehicle was being searched so that it could be towed.

At this time Hughs allegedly told officers there was some possible illegal drugs in the center console – telling them that she took the suspected “ice” away from someone so they couldn’t use it.

Officers found a black film canister containing a glassy like substance that would later field test positive for methamphetamine. She was charged with Meth Possession under 5 grams on top of the traffic related violations.
