GPD bust two more individuals over the weekend on meth possession

Galesburg police officers had a busy weekend, where several arrests were made and two people now face meth related charges.

On Friday at around 4:45 officers observed an illegally parked Kia Sorento and initiated a traffic stop. Upon approach of the vehicle, officers detected the smell of cannabis.

The driver, 22-year-old Dylan M. Watkins of Abingdon, told officers he had pot in his possession, but did tell officers there might be “ice” methamphetamine in his car.

A glassy substance – that field tested positive for meth – was discovered as was a digital scale and a plastic box full of clear baggies inside.

Watkins was booked at the Knox County Jail on a felony count of Intent to Deliver Meth under 5 grams.

At around 9:40 Saturday night, officers on patrol observed a suspicious black Cadillac.

While attempting to pull over the Cadillac, it turned into a driveway and the driver quickly exited the vehicle.

Officers detained the driver, 47-year-old Phillip A. Alfaro, and discovered a phone case on the scene containing a baggie with what would later be determined to be 1.3 grams of methamphetamine.

The case was found on the ground on the property of the house Alfaro pulled into.

No contraband was found on Alfaro, but officers did find a mirror with white powder residue in side the vehicle.

Alfaro was taken to the Knox County Jail, where he would later admit to officers the phone case with meth in it was his.

He is being charged with Possession of Methamphetamine under 5 grams.
