Second shooting in Monmouth in two weeks

A Monmouth man is recovering from a gunshot wound to his forearm after another man fired on him yesterday.
Monmouth officers were notified by OSF Holy Family Medical Center that the victim was in the emergency room being treated.

An MPD press release says that the incident is alleged to have happened in the early morning hours Tuesday, in the 800 block of S. 6th Street.

After a brief investigation an arrest warrant was issued for 37-year old Aaron Warrington also of Monmouth who is being charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Warrington was taken into custody by 6:30 a.m. Tuesday by MPD and Illinois State Police Tactical Unit.

He’s being held in Warren County Jail pending a bond hearing.

This marks the second shooting in Warren County in as many weeks, with Drew M. Pearman now facing several counts of first degree murder as he is accused of killing 27-year old Zackery Talley on Christmas Eve.
