Monmouth man facing five counts of first-degree murder

A Monmouth man made his first appearance in court Tuesday – facing nearly a half dozen murder charges stemming from a shooting on Christmas Eve.

34-year-old Drew M. Pearman was in Warren County Circuit Court with public defender Thomas Siegel.

He is charged with five counts of first-degree murder in the slaying of 27-year-old Zackery D. Talley.

Pearman was arrested following the Monmouth Police Department being called to a residence in the 100 block of W 4th Ave. in the early morning hours of the holiday.

After an interview with police, he was charged in the death of Talley.

Associate Judge Patricia Walton scheduled a preliminary and bond reduction hearing for January 9th at 11 a.m. at the Warren County Courthouse.

Preliminary hearings were held for three individuals Tuesday on multiple felonies related to possession of drugs and drug manufacturing materials.

28-year-old Marcus W. Gibbs, and 22-year-old Cheyenne M. Christianson, and 22-year-old Luz M Carrillo all face two counts of Armed Violence, and Meth Manufacturing Materials – both Class 2 felonies – as well as a Class 3 felony of Meth Possession.

All three were arrested in the early minutes of Sunday, December 17th following a traffic stop performed by Galesburg Police officers when it was noticed their vehicle had an expired registration.

Gibbs was arrested for driving on a suspended license, and – while being searched – allegedly turned up methamphetamine in his possession.

A full search of the vehicle was conducted, to which officers found pseudoephedrine tablets, a generator bottle, as well as brass knuckles and an airsoft gun. All three plead not guilty.

Gibbs made his appearance in court with Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh accompanied by his attorney Elisa M. Nelson. His next appearance will be March 5th.

Carrillo – who was still in custody went before Judge Cavanaugh accompanied by Public Defender David M. Hansen. Additionally, her bond was reduced from $3,000 to $1,000. Her next appearance in court will be February 2nd for a pretrial conference.

Christianson went before Judge James G. Baber with Public Defender Daniel O’Brien. Her next appearance will be March 5th.
