The long-awaited Galesburg Burger King is expected to be open Thursday.
Last week City inspectors were expected to do their final rounds with the County Health Department making inspections Tuesday morning.
It’s been a long road since the Burger King’s arrival was first announced August 2016.
CEO of the management company that owns this particular franchise, Maruti Seth at one time said the opening could have come as soon last March.
A groundbreaking was held in August of 2017.
On the day of the groundbreaking praised the city for being easy to work with said that the process was closer to three years to bring Burger King to the “Burg”.
Seth says, “There’s a lot of investment. So we have to be very careful. You have to get the local approvals, you have to get the franchiser approvals. And we looked at multiple sites and in the end we think this is the best site possible.”
