Nursing Home contract on the agenda for Knox County Board

On Tuesday night the Knox County Board could approve the collective bargaining contract with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 1047 – the nursing home’s union.

This was a hot-button topic at last month’s County Board and Committee meetings, with several members of the Nursing Home staff voicing their issues with contract talks, and benefit slashing rumors.

Another controversial topic regarding the possible removal of a tree from the courthouse grounds could be decided tonight.

The tree plays hosts crows who have been defecating, and urinating on the sidewalks and parking lot of the courthouse lawn – creating an unsightly appearance, and possible health hazards.

The board could also approve several projects related to the nursing home – including an accounts receivable clean up, and operational review from WIPFLI.

Also on the agenda for tonight are several appointments, including Sam Montooth, and Charles A. Cooley the-second to the Soon Lake Sanitary District, and Lowell Mannhardt to the Knoxville Fire Protection District.

Tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. in the main courtroom on the second floor.
