One arrested on meth possession following traffic stop

Galesburg police arrested a man on meth possession Sunday after officers pulled him over after it was noticed his registration was expired by several years and were registered to a different vehicle.

Officers performed a traffic stop at around 8:36 p.m. in the 300 block of East Grove Street on a white 1998 Chevrolet S10 truck.

The driver, 24-year-old Jared D.H. Myers, had warrants in Knox and Warren counties to which officers arrested him.

According to reports, it was at that time that officers discovered drug paraphernalia in the drivers side of the truck.

Officers conducted a full search of the vehicle, allegedly finding a baggie of methamphetamine.

Allegedly, officers discovered the registration sticker on the license plate was for a different license plate – one that was discovered in the truck as well.

The alleged informed officers that he had just purchased the vehicle and that the expired license was on the plate already and he had attempted to get new registration for it.

Myers was charged with a Class 3 felony of meth possession, a Class A misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia, and a few traffic related citations.

The alleged is scheduled for his first court appearance with representation in Knox County on January 9th.
