Fire in Farmington claims apartment building

A fire in the Fulton County city of Farmington claims an apartment building – luckily all occupants escaped to safety.

Monday at 10:19 a.m. fire crews from the Farmington Fire Protection District were called out to the 600 block of East Fort Street for a structure fire.

According to a Facebook post from the fire protection district, crews quickly knocked down the heavy fire on the west side of the structure.

Fire fighters then followed up by tackling the interior blaze before the fire could spread to the rest of the building.

One issue that fire crews had was a failed water system – forcing Farmington crews to call for mutual aid from nearby fire crews to haul in water.

Responding to Farmington were crews from Elmwood, Logan Trivoli Copperas Creek, Buckheart, Yates City, Cuba, Maquon, and London Mills.
