One man charged with DUI following traffic accident on Lincoln Street

An early Sunday morning traffic accident has resulted in one man being arrested on a slew of charges, most notably driving under the influence of alcohol.

Galesburg police were dispatched to a train crossing on Lincoln Street for a motor vehicle accident with injuries at around 2:30 – where they discovered a 2002 Dodge Dakota flipped on the driver’s side on the tracks.

The driver, 23-year-old Dallas W. Kasparie, allegedly told officers he was on his way home from a bar in Victoria and that he admitted that he would fail any sobriety tests he officers had him do, and was asked to be put in handcuffs.

According to reports, officers conclude that the vehicle struck the center median and wooden supports of the crossing before hitting railroad tracks and flipped on it’s side.

Kasparie was charged with DUI, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
