Discovery Depot activities planned for Christmas and winter

The Discovery Depot has already had a big winter but they’re not slowing down as Christmas and New Year’s approaches.
For example this Friday, Executive Director Denise Bradburn says that they are holding a overnight lock-in at the museum all themed around the book the movie “The Polar Express.”

“It’s a great opportunity for you to drop your children off and they’re immersed in Polar Express activities crafts, games and snacks and they get to watch the movie and maybe mom and dad or grandma and grandpa can do a little bit of Christmas shopping and pick them up the next morning,” Bradburn says.

Bradburn says they do require the parents call and register kids ahead of time so they know how many to plan for.

The next day children can be picked up anytime up until 8 a.m.

Discovery Depot will also be open the day before and after Christmas.

The children’s museum has already had a busy holiday season coming off the the downtown holiday extravaganza Galesburg Express.

Almost 800 people came through the Discovery Depot for the second year of the event.

Their Festival of Trees fundraiser, typically their biggest fundraiser for operating costs that was held a few weeks ago, yielded more dollars than year the event’s been held.
