Employee promotions covered at Knoxville City Council

The Knoxville City Council heard an update on a nuisance property at 2-07 North Street from City Attorney Rob McCoy Monday night.The structures on the property are poised for demolition – and Knoxville will then sell the property once a price is established.

September bills were paid, and the council also went over several personnel items.

The job descriptions for the new Supervisor of Public Works and City Mechanic / Assistant Supervisor positions were discussed.

A part time street department employee, Scott Reynolds, will be brought on as a full time employee, Ron Curry will be promoted to City Mechanic, and Tim Rossell will replace retiring Supervisor of Public Works, Tom Meyers.

Rossell has been with the City’s street department for 18 years – Tom Meyers is retiring in the first week of November.

The council also heard estimates on repairing a brick wall for the City’s pumping station.

Alderman also discussed at length the lack of local businesses that bid on City jobs – desiring to table many projects until more local companies ask to submit bids.
