New firearm deer hunt for persons with disabilities.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is hosting a new firearm deer hunt for persons with disabilities. 

The hunt is schedule for October 14th and 15th at Spoon River State Wildlife Area in Knox County – approximately seven miles south of Victoria.

The deadline to apply for the hunt is next Saturday, October 7th.

A total of 10 permits are available for the hunt – and each permit is valid for one designated hunting location at the site.

The 2017 Youth Deer Hunting season is Saturday October 7th through Monday, October 9th.

Youth Deer Hunting is for anyone who hasn’t reached his or her 18th birthday prior to the opening date of the season.

Youth hunters may purchase only one single permit at a fee of $10.50, and are available to residents and non-residents until the last day of the season.

Fall Turkey Archery Season and Archery Deer Season starts Sunday through January 14th.

Fall Turkey Shotgun Season is October 21st through October 29th, and the first Firearm Deer Season for hunters is November 17th to November 19th.

The second firearm deer season for hunters is November 30th to December 3rd.
