Knox County Y’s Big Steps hits the streets Saturday morning

Saturday morning the Knox County YMCA will be kicking off their Big Steps 5K, 10K and 1-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk to raise money for their 2017 Annual Support Campaign.

The 1-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk starts at 8:30 a.m., while the 5K and 10K steps off at 9 a.m. from the Y’s Carl Sandburg Drive location.

Kelly Corbin, the Associate Executive Director with the Knox County Y tells WGIL that proceeds going toward the Annual Support Campaign helps those who can’t afford a YMCA membership get one.

Aside from the weekend event, Corbin says that the Y is getting ready for a lot more including Fall Soccer, their endowment program as well as their after school support program, Solutions.

The 1-Mile Family Fun Run-Walk will follow a path down Carl Sandburg Drive and back to the YMCA.

The 5 will follow down Carl Sandburg Drive and through Woodbine neighborhood to Losey Street and back, while the 10K continues passes Carl Sandburg Drive to Pickard Road and back.
