Galesburg City Council work session highlights new regulations for gun shop owners

Changes to an ordinance that would add regulations to gun shop owners will be discussed at tonight’s work session for the Galesburg City Council.

The policy currently in place for the city requires gun shops to pay a $150 per year license to sell guns.

The city council is considering adding language that would add additional rules and regulations on owners of shops.

The early draft proposal, as of June 19th, states that residents cannot obtain a license to sell guns unless an approved safety plan from the Police Chief, which would be on file with the city clerk’s office.

Park Plaza Improvements are also scheduled to be discussed at tonight’s work session.

The work session starts at 5:30 P-M tonight in the Erickson Conference Room at City Hall.
