A head-on collision near the small village of Norris has left one person dead.
Fulton County Deputies and fire-rescue personnel were called to the community half-way between Canton and Farmington near an intersection of Illinois route 78 and Old route 78 at just before 12:30 P-M Tuesday.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2008 Dodge Ram driven by Tammy Schmidgall of Farmington was traveling northbound on 78 when it crossed the yellow center line, colliding with a southbound Ford F-1-50 being driven by Larry Lane, also of Farmington.
Schmidgall was treated on the scene by Fulton County Paramedics. Lane was pronounced dead on the scene by county Coroner Steve Hines.
Copperas Creek and Canton Fire Departments along with Fulton County Ambulance assisted on the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
