Woman dies following Henry County fire

A Bishop Hill woman is dead after fire damaged her home in the historic Henry County village Tuesday.

Galva firefighters were called to the home on South Swanson in the Henry County village after a neighbor smelled smoke.

The Henry County Coroner pronounced 72-year-old Linda Holden dead at the scene.

Officials say the fire started likely next to a bed and spread to a basement.

The state fire marshal and state police crime scene technician are aiding in the investigation.

An official cause has not yet been determined, nor has the cause of the fire, and of Holden’s death.
