‘The Gospel Side of Elvis’ coming to Knoxville tomorrow night

Dave Beversdorf says “you don’t really know Elvis until you know the gospel side of Elvis.”
Beversdorf is the coordinator of a show this Sunday that will pay tribute to the King of Rock ‘N Roll’s passion for the King of Kings and gospel music.

He says there will be a roster of vocalist who will perform some of Presley’s gospel favorites including Joyful Noise, Marty Smith and Rodney Morss

Morss said he doesn’t have much of an Elvis impersonation.

“I’ve been trying to do the lip thing on a couple of songs but I think it’s just going to be doing the songs that he recorded,” Morss says.

Morss and the others will be simply singing the songs and not necessarily doing a Presely impression.

Galesburg Broadcasting’s own Chris Postin will MC the spectacle.

Discounted tickets are on sale for “he Gospel Side of Elvis” at Brighter Life Bookshoppe and Galesburg North High School.

Beversdorf notes that Elvis only won three competitive Grammys in his iconic career, all for gospel songs.
