Knoxville City Council establishes new employee retirement plan

Knoxville City Council officially established their retirement plan for city employees on Monday night.
The plan won’t go into effect this year because this year’s pension disbursement has already been made for this fiscal year.

City Clerk Charlie Gruner tells WGIL that essentially what aldermen voted for was to pay the fee to get the plan started.

457B is a retirement plan mainly used by local and state government entities.

The Knoxville Ag Club has received a grant to buy flower pots and soil to grow plants.

They’re expected to place them around the business district to beautify the town.

Alderman also approved disposing of a vacuum truck in the sewer department.

Gruner says the last time it was used was in the 1990’s and has been sitting stagnant since.

He says some of the parts will be salvaged and the rest of the machine will be junked.
