Chocolate and tractors highlight the Galesburg area’s weekend

Chocolate and tractors highlight the Galesburg area’s weekend.
Both events are nothing new to Knox County residents.

The 31st annual Chocolate Fest presented by the Galesburg Historical Society gives residents the chance to pay one price for all the chocolate their belly can hold.

On both Saturday and Sunday from 11 to 3 p.m. at 156 East admission is $10 or $8 if you’re able to snag some a head of time.

There are a handful of businesses that they know ahead of time will contribute such as coffee from Innkeeper’s, chocolate covered bacon from Hen House Barbeque and chocolate chili from Coney Island.

But otherwise the society is “surprised” by what community members bring in.

Funds raised will go towards the Historical Society’s museum on the top floor of the Galesburg Antique Mall.

Speaking of malls, this will seemingly be the last year the Maple City Antique Tractor Show will be at the Sandburg Mall.

That’s also going on this Saturday and Sunday.

VP of the Maple City Antique Tractor Association Fred Anderson says practically every corner of the mall will contain antiquated farm equipment.

“We’d like to fill them all up but we have them down three wings, plus at center court is where we like to have the featured tractor, unless we have a whole bunch of them,” Anderson says.

As many as 100 tractors have been featured at the show in the past

The hours of the show are the same as the mall itself, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
