Galesburg men appear in separate sex cases

Two Galesburg men appeared in Knox County Circuit Court today in separate sex cases.

Thirty-seven-year-old Richard Waldorf made a first appearance this morning.

Waldorf is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and felony criminal sexual assault in one case for allegedly committing the assault on a woman in her home. A police report says Waldorf and the woman previously dated, however, she was not consensual in the act alleged October 14.

The man is also accused of grabbing the woman’s face and throat. For that, he is charged with aggravated domestic battery and misdemeanor battery.

Bond was set last week at $400,000 in total.

Also in court today, 59-year-old James Beaty was charged for seven offenses including home invasion, residential burglary and two counts criminal sexual abuse.

Assistant State’s Attorney Sabrina Stroops read a narrative alleging after a woman returned to her E. Fifth Street apartment, Beaty, her neighbor, entered and forcefully grabbed her and insinuated wanting to perform sexual acts.

Judge Stephen Mathers set bond at $100,000 in his case. Beaty is due back in court Friday at 9 a.m.
