Man arrested for cocaine possession

Police arrested a Galesburg man early this morning where they found a small amount cocaine on his person.

Twenty-four-year old Mick Jones was apprehended shortly after midnight at 57 S. Cherry Street.

According to a police report, Jones and another man were on a pool table at Cherry Street Bar and Grill when management asked them to get off. Both were eventually asked to leave the establishment after a verbal dispute about the incident. Mick then allegedly became “irate and aggressive,” making threats which lead to his arrest.

Police were called to the scene where amid Jones’ arrest, they found a small plastic baggie of a substance in his wallet. The substance was later tested as less than a gram of cocaine.

Jones is charged with possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct. Judge Stephen Mathers set bond at $3,500 in Knox County Circuit Court this afternoon. Jones does not yet have counsel.

He will re-appear in court November 16 at 9 a.m.
