Principals agree 205’s registration process was improved

Beginning a school year can be difficult.
Not only getting kids ready for school, but to get them to school at the beginning of the year period.

WGIL spoke with three District 205 elementary principals who all agreed the new streamlined district wide registration process at the GHS fieldhouse and off-site registrations helped to get the year off to a smooth start.

Off-site registrations were held in the late summer at the Knox County YMCA and and Lakeside Pool.

Steele Elementary Principal Matt Lingafelter says off-site registration has been “nothing but positive.”

He says the number of students that were registered on time at Steele was “the same this year if not better.”

Matt LeClere Principal of Nielson Elementary tells WGIL expanding off site registration is something 205 administration has discussed.

“Any process can be improved and this was the first time we tried anything like this and it was successful but there’s always room for improvement,” LeClere. “I think offering a couple of more sites in the future might be something that could improve the process.”

King School Principal Joan Hoscheck says “you’re never going to get every one to show up” but for anyone who had the process at the fieldhouse it was a “breeze.

She’s not sure if it made a difference in getting more students on the first day but said things were very organized and the staff working were very helpful.
