A 47 year old Galesburg man was arrested yesterday for allegedly having sex with a 16 year old girl.
Knox County Circuit Court documents show Lee Wright Jr. faces one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The aggravated charge is a class two felony worth up to 14 years in prison.
A warrant was issued for his arrest July 21 and Wright was taken into custody yesterday. Documents indicate the man sexually penetrated the girl but did not go into further detail.
Yesterday, Wright appeared via video where Judge Stephen Mathers set bond at $50,000 in the case and appointed a public defender.
Wright was back in court this morning for a first appearance. He’ll return for a preliminary hearing August 16th at 2 p.m.
