No explosives found in ROWVA bomb threat investigation

No explosives were found on ROWVA school grounds today after a bomb threat was discovered Monday.

The Bomb Division of the Illinois Secretary of State Office in Springfield conducted an investigation today. Investigators used two bomb-sniffing dogs and did not detect any exploding devices.

A note found Monday warned of a bomb threat today leading the ROWVA school district to cancel classes for the day. ROWVA Superintendent Joe Sornberger said the cancelation was a “precautionary measure.”

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department and school administrators were unable to find any explosives during preliminary sweeps.

A letter to ROWVA parents and guardians says school will be back in session tomorrow.

The district will continue to investigate the threat and will “continue to take precautions to keep the students and staff of ROWVA safe.”
