205 to consider $6 million in working cash fund bonds, 6 RIF recalls possible

District 205 Superintendent Ralph Grimm has said that cash flow problems due to the Illinois budget impasse could have the district struggling to make payroll as soon as January.

At tonight’s board meeting, members will decide whether or not to authorize up to $6 million in working cash fund bonds.

While the state still owes the district millions, 205 has received some funds even without a state spending plan this year because of an education funding bill Gov. Bruce Rauner signed.

Grimm feels that it’s unlikely that Rauner would sign another education funding bill without an entire budget in FY17.

Also in this month’s personnel report, 39 staff transfers will be subject to approval as well as recalling six teachers who had received Reduction in Force notices. Some of those getting called back are getting a cut in hours and pay with their recall.

In other business, members will consider approval of replacement Chromebook laptops, the model of which was researched and recommended by the high school’s Computer Service Internship class.

Members may also decide on whether to request that the Regional Office of Education take up fiscal and administrative duties for Pre-K grants.
