Your weekend: Bike rides and garage sales tomorrow

This weekend kicks off tomorrow morning with a couple big garage sales ahead of Mother’s Day. Or, for those looking to work up a sweat — a nearly 40 mile bike ride.

The Cyclists of Galesburg Superhero Spring Tune-Up Ride is at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Cyclists meet in the parking lot behind Ride and Run in downtown Galesburg.

Alderman, attorney and COG member Jeremy Karlin tells Galesburg’s Morning News on WGIL this ride isn’t particularly long.

“This is a shorter ride for us,” Karlin says. “I think we kind of recognize that for some people this might be their first big ride of the season so we tried to make it a little bit shorter this year.”

Registration is $35 and proceeds go to the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Knox County.

At the same time, Thrifty on 150 will be going on in Alpha. The yard sales will be held along with the Alpha Car show. Entry in the car show is $10.

At 7 a.m. tomorrow on the Knox County Fairgrounds, the FM 95 Great Neighborhood Garage Sale has nearly 50 sales in one location.

Galesburg Broadcasting Company Operations Director Brian Prescott says the nice weather expected early tomorrow is bringing sellers and buyers out.

“There’s more outdoor sellers than there are indoor sellers, which in the last two years we have done it has been predominantly inside,” Prescott says. “So, I think a lot of people are keeping an eye on that forecast.”

Tomorrow’s forecast calls for temps around 70 degrees early on, but a chance of showers in the afternoon.
