Galesburg man arrested for home invasion, domestic battery

Police arrested a Galesburg man accused of breaking into a Knoxville home on Saturday, injuring the occupants and stealing cell phones.

Bradley M. Nelson appeared today in Knox County Circuit Court via video. Judge Stephen Mathers said the 30-year-old suspect faces charges of home invasion, domestic battery and theft.

In reading the charges, Mathers said Nelson allegedly entered a Market Street home where he caused injury to people inside.

Additionally, Nelson is accused of violating an order of protection issued April 13.

The home invasion charge is a Class X felony typically worth up to 30 years in prison.

Nelson is defended by private attorney Elisa Nelson. His next appearance is scheduled for 2 p.m. May 10. Preliminary hearings for this case and a previous felony domestic battery case will be held at that time.

Nelson is in the Knox County jail on $100,000 bond.
