205 Board to consider fee restructuring and athletic cuts tonight

Tonight’s District 205 School Board meeting will have members considering changes to student fees in the district.

One of the changes up for consideration is raising the fee for the behind wheel portion of driver’s education class from $75 to $175.

School districts are not required to provide students with the behind the wheel section and members have in the past discussed the crunch to get all students driving practice during class.

An increase in breakfast and lunch prices will also be voted on.

A few expected cuts in district athletic spending will be voted on as well–moving the middle school soccer program to the Knox County YMCA and eliminating the GHS girls bowling program.

The board had previously decided to eliminate the differential for the one bowling coach.

There will also be an update on the project to gradually replace the district’s supply of Chromebook laptops.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the district office.
