The Galesburg Downtown Council is looking for community members interested in sharing their thoughts on how the downtown area can be improved.
Between 1 and 9 p.m. April 21, focus groups will meet at the Bondi Building for hour-and-a-half sessions on areas including hardscape, technology, discovery, aesthetics and greenscape.
GDC President Bob Bondi tells WGIL the last time a study was done on the downtown’s presentation was about eight years ago.
“We just felt like we probably needed to redefine one more time how to get everything together to properly present the downtown in its best face,” he says.
Bondi says the GDC has two goals for people contributing to the focus groups.
“One: their input, obviously, because they have some perspective,” he says. “And then: everybody’s buy in because, obviously, once we get the concept or master plan together to go forward with, we want to make sure everybody’s had their say in order to then move forward and try and create that better look that we’re trying to accomplish.”
Participants will be discussing design concepts, streets, pavement, facades and other aspects of the downtown area. Those who wish to participate are asked to call 309-345-3619.
