Homes damaged in Avon, Tornado reported last night near Good Hope

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — The National Weather Service reported a tornado near the western Illinois town of Good Hope in McDonough County last night.

A dispatcher in the McDonough County sheriff’s office said late Tuesday that some damage has been reported in and around the town. However, he said it wasn’t clear if it was caused by a tornado or from high winds. There were no reports of injuries there.

Additionally, via their Facebook page, Fulton County Emergency Management reported at least four homes were either damaged or destroyed near Avon last night. Some residents were displaced from their homes but no injuries have been reported at this time in the town.

The weather service warned area residents of golf ball-sized hail and flying debris last night.

A wind advisory is in effect for Knox County from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. tonight. The weather service is forecasting wind gusts as high as 50 mph.
