Harlan looks ahead to battle with Bustos

Patrick Harlan, the Republican nominee for the 17th Congressional District, is getting ready to continue his campaign to November when general elections roll around.

The Galesburg truck driver and leader of the Galesburg Tea Party will battle incumbent Congresswoman Cheri Bustos for the seat.

Harlan won big last night in the primary over Milan tree farmer Jack Boccarossa, garnering nearly 76 percent of the unofficial vote.

“I’m overjoyed and I’m humbled,” Harlan told WGIL during election coverage last night. “I couldn’t believe that this big of a victory came along. I’m truly humbled by this experience.”

That’s Harlan who beat Boccarossa by more than 30,000 votes district wide.

Attempting to keep that momentum going, Harlan tells WGIL he plans to keep doing what he’s doing.

“I’m not going to change my strategy at all. I started this campaign back in September with the idea that I was ready to take on Cheri Bustos with the fact of the Iran nuclear deal and with the fact of her not signing off on partial birth abortions, and with families–I’m ready to take her on with  the veterans, so, I’m looking forward to what’s coming in November.”

Voters will head to the polls to make their final decision November 8th.
