Chamber names Ambassador of the Year, Honors ’20 under 40′ recipients at annual dinner

The Galesburg Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual dinner at the Kensington Ballroom tonight where they named chamber member Doug Gibb as Ambassador of the Year.

Gibb is a longtime educator and therapist. He was introduced by Ambassador Chairman Candy Webb who named off just a few of Gibb’s community positions.

“Currently he’s the Director of Bereavement for Hospice Compassus which serves 15 counties and he is its grief counselor and practitioner,” Webb said. “He is the Co-founder and Director of the Children’s Grief Camp which just began its 20th year and has now gained state and national attention.”

Gibb is also a past winner of the Thomas B. Herring community service award, and is a husband and father to two children.

In other news, Chamber members honored award recipients of the inaugural “20 under 40” program, which documents young professionals in the community.

G&M Distributors President Adam Vitale, Dr. Rita Wilcox of the PATH Center for Healing and Galesburg Community Foundation Executive Director Josh Gibb were among the 20 honored.

Josh Gibb spoke about the accolade alongside Dr. Holly Weidenhamer who was also honored. Summing up the evening, he told dinner guests that the program is another example of something that “makes Galesburg great.”
