Galesburg man arrested for robbery, home invasion, battery of elderly

A Galesburg man accused of entering a Monmouth Boulevard home, attacking an elderly resident and stealing about $1,200 is in police custody.

Galesburg police arrested 28-year-old Kevin D. Lockett Jr. on charges of robbery, aggravated battery of an elderly person and home invasion causing injury. The home invasion charge is a Class X felony typically worth up to 30 years in prison.

According to police reports, the 64-year-old victim told officers a man he knew as “Kevo” — later confirmed by police as an alias of Lockett — had entered his home on Feb. 3, punched him three to four times in the face and once in the chest before taking money from a recently cashed disability check.

Galesburg Hospitals’ Ambulance Service responded to the Monmouth Boulevard home, however, the victim refused to be taken to a hospital.

A $350,000 warrant was issued leading to Lockett’s arrest yesterday. Locket remains in the Knox County jail.
