Police to investigate child porn allegations

Police arrested a Galesburg man yesterday afternoon on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant that led to a charge of possession of child pornography.

The Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office has held off on filing charges pending further investigation from the Galesburg Police Department. A spokeswoman for the State’s Attorney says the office still intends to file charges.

Dennis M. Thomas was booked in the Knox County jail yesterday. The State’s Attorney’s office says a DOC parole officer found what was believed to be child pornography on the 28-year-old suspect’s cell phone during his warrant arrest.

The phone is currently in the DOC’s custody along with Thomas. Charges are expected to be filed after the GPD looks at the digital contents of the phone.

Thomas was sentenced to three years in prison in 2013 for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim older than five years old in Schuyler County.
