Galesburg holds presentations to highlight city website

Anyone with an internet connection can find everything from the Galesburg municipal code to local election results on the city’s website.

Information Systems Supervisor Orlee Lucero says the website has “a massive amount of information available to the public.”

“The problem with it is, it is hard to know where it is and how to find it,” he says. “And historically, especially as far as information services go, we have not been good about marketing — getting that information out to the public.”

Presentations were held at City Hall today to show people how to look up online water bill payments, City Council agendas and minutes, youth activities, free public wi-fi locations, online voter registration and where all sorts of city links are.

Lucero says the goal of the presentations was to show people how to sort through information themselves.

Among the areas of focus was the city’s Elections Office. Office Executive Director Lisa Watson says the site has federal, state and local election information as well as candidate details.

Information is available at ci.galesburg.il.us.
