Audi’s to reopen Mexican-American restaurant on Henderson Street

Before Budde’s Pizza and Spirits made it’s downtown location home, the Main Street spot was known as Audi’s #1 Pizza and Pub. After more than a decade, the Mexican-American restaurant known for their pizza is returning to Galesburg.

Audi’s owner Lynette Vandewostine says the restaurant will reopen by Feb. 1 at the Henderson Street building most recently occupied by Big JJ Fish and Chicken, and Casa Sierra before that.

Vandewostine tells WGIL construction is nearly finished.

“We’re on the final stages of it,” she says. “Just got a couple weeks worth of work, that’s what I’m saying. It’s pretty much ready to roll.”

She adds that the previous businesses left the building primed for a new restaurant to move in.

“There are several places open in town for rent,” she says, “but it was the closest to being ready to lease without a whole lot of work and it was kind of set up for what kind of food we do.”

Vandewostine says the restaurant can seat about 45 people. She expects the business to employ three or four people initially.

She says when Audi’s opens it’s doors, the restaurant will operate from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
