Harmony Baptist Church, 746 Hawkinson Ave., Galesburg, will be performing a Christmas Cantata entitled “Ten Thousand Hallelujahs”, a choral and drama production which includes some excerpts from Handel’s Messiah. Performance times are 6 PM on Sunday, December 16 and 7 PM on Thursday, December 20. Both performances will be presented at the church and are free and open to the public.

The Christmas tradition of “Julotta” continues at Bishop Hill State Historic Site, where the public is invited to gather for a nondenominational church service at 6:00 a.m. on Christmas morning, Tuesday, December 25. Knox Winter Jazz Series Workshop

Come join the Luciano Antonio Brazilian Quartet and play Brazilian percussion instruments, including the tamborim, surdo drum, shakers and agogo bells. Attendees will have the chance to participate in a traditional Brazilian Batucada, a sub-style of samba drumming. No musical experience or background is required and the workshop is open to all ages. Back by popular demand, the 2014 Winter Jazz Series guest artist Luciano Antonio returns with his Quartet to present two free public events at Knox College. Luciano Antonio’s work as a guitarist and singer showcases a contemporary jazz interpretation of traditional Brazilian folk music. A native of rural southern Brazil, he performs throughout the Chicago area and across the country.
