Sweet Crude and Upstate Rubdown

July 15, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm

FREE

The Levitt Amp Galva Concert Series continues July 15 with Sweet Crude with Upstate Rubdown. Galva’s Wiley Park provides ample shade for your lawn chairs and blankets, a playground for the kids, and plenty of places to play and dance. The event will begin with a Vendor Fair from 2-6. Kewanee Community Band will provide dinner entertainment from 4:30-5:30. Geneseo Moose Lodge #990 will host a fundraiser dinner beginning at 4:30. The Concert begins at 6 with Upstate Rubdown followed by Sweet Crude at 7. Rain location is in the Galva High School. This is a FREE concert open to everyone.

Upstate Rubdown is an acoustic septet drawing inspiration from every corner (and decade) of America’s musical heritage. Based in New York’s Hudson Valley region, the band has spent years cultivating its sound, and continues to grow by the tune. The instrumentation includes Harry D’Agostino on upright bass, Ryan Chappell on mandolin, Dean Mahoney on cajón, and Christian Joao on flute and alto/baritone saxophone. The dynamic rhythm section supports a three part vocal harmony powerhouse of founding members Mary Kenney and Melanie Glenn with recent Nashville-transplant Allison Olender. http://www.upstaterubdown.com/

Sweet Crude is indigenous to South Louisiana. They want to show the world that we can make progressive music that also embraces this region’s French-speaking tradition. They are joining a small but fervent group of young Louisianians engaged in keeping the language relevant via art. In July, they will be visiting Ottawa, Toronto, Montréal, the Midwest and Southeast US. http://sweetcrudeband.com/
