Galesburg Rescue Mission Harvestime Share-A-Thon

WGIL hosts the 35th annual Harvestime Share-A-Thon, a fundraiser that hopes to raise a goal of $50,000 for the Galesburg Rescue Mission & Women’s Shelter. The money raised during the Share-A-Thon will be used to help with the mission’s general costs and utility bills that need to be paid in order to keep their doors open.
On average, 33 people a night stay and get assistance at the mission, including an average of 13 women and children. Galesburg Rescue Mission Executive Director Dave Scholl expects that this year’s goal should be able to be met during Saturday’s event.
Scholl tells WGIL that listeners should expect a number of guests and activities during the event.
“We’ll have many interviews with different staff members, board members, community people,” says Scholl. “Even clients will be giving testimonies.”
If the $50,000 goal is reached it will cover 12% of the Rescue Mission’s annual budget. The money raised will also be used to to give out baskets of food to hungry families during the Holiday season.
