Galesburg Civic Art Center Art Camp

$75The Galesburg Civic Art Center Art Camp for students going into 5th – 10th grades will begin Monday, June 27, pre-registration required! There are six – one week sessions planned in painting, film, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, and fiber. Sessions will be held at the Art Center, Monday through Thursday, 9am-12noon. Each week is an individual session, the cost per session is $75 per student, all materials and instruction for the week are provided.
Art Campers will learn a variety of techniques during their one week session related to the media that is being focused on. Students should be prepared to have fun and get a little messy!
June 27 – 30, 9am-12noon: PAINTING
Learn to paint like a pro, and use mixed media techniques like a master

July 5 – July 7 (No Camp on Monday), 9am-12noon: FILM FANATICS
See what it is like to write, direct, and star in a film. In groups, we will create a short film that will premiere at the Black Earth Film Festival in Galesburg – May 2017.

July 11 – 14, 9am-12noon: PRINTMAKING
Make eye-catching prints using a variety of materials: fruits and vegetables, leaves, Styrofoam, plastic, rubber, and learn screen printing on t-shirts (Bring your own shirt.)

July 18 – 21, 9am-12noon: DRAWING
Discover how to capture what you see in charcoal, pastel, and pencil while learning proportions, perspective, and shading.

July 25 – 28, 9am-12noon: SCULPTURE
Build 3D structures with clay, cardboard, and found items.
Instructors: Chris Dokolasa and Susan Thompson
August 1 – 4, 9am-12noon: FIBER
Try fabric painting, create a Van Gogh-esque painting or your own composition using yarn, learn to tie-dye (Bring your own 100% cotton item).
