Fundraisers, sales, and still plenty of scares this weekend

For 78 years, the Galesburg Rescue Mission has been providing shelter, food, and clothing free of charge for those in need. Every year, the rescue mission will host the Harvest Share-a-ton in November to help raise funds for the shelter. Illinois State Police Trooper Matt McFall is the Vice President at the mission and decided on another fun way to raise funds. Saturday, October 19th, a fundraiser in the form of a basketball game between the Illinois State Police and the Galesburg Police Department will be held at Galesburg High School. “I’ve motivated everyone (and) we now have a PayPal button on the Galesburg Rescue Mission website so you can donate there so you know it’s safe,” McFall said. “I thought, what a better way to get the community involved. But also, to give the police a positive image in the community and to raise money and have fun. It’s going to be a good game.” The game at John Thiel Gymnasium at Galesburg High School begins at 6:00 pm admission is a free-will donation. www.galesburgrescuemission.org
