Dist. 205 to seat new school board member

The District 205 Board of Education will be seating a new member at Monday night’s meeting.

While board documents do not indicate who the board is appointing to fill the open seat left when Vicki Banks resigned in August, Superintendent Dr. John Asplund previously told WGIL that interviews were conducted earlier in the month.

Asplund said previously that the board had several options as far as who they were to seat, saying that they were trying to find a board member that best fit with representing the community.

The board could approve bids for concrete and steelwork at King Elementary School at.

Board documents indicate that the total costs for building concrete, steel fabrication and erection will come in at under $538,801 — which are under budget.

The board will also be approving some flooring recommendations for Lombard Middle School to the tune of $183,211.
Additional building construction agenda items include a change order for two electrical items, one for an emergency generator connection for over $14,358 and the other moving a transformer for $16,314.

Also on the agenda for the meeting, board members will discuss school boundary changes.

At last month’s meeting, board members were informed that the district was looking into the parameters of determining the boundary lines for each school.

It is anticipated the board will decide on school boundaries next month.

The board of education meets in an open session at 7:00 at the district offices on Harrison Street.
