Shots fired at W. Berrien St. housing

The investigation continues into a “shots fired” call that went out early Friday morning.

According to Galesburg Police, officers responded to the 1000-block of West Berrien Street at around 2:38 where shots were reported. Officers recovered three .45 caliber shell casings from a sidewalk in the area.

Bullet holes were observed in the front window of a residence where damage from a round was observed inside. Officers found the round embedded inside of a water heater.

Witnesses told officers that they had been inside of the residence when the bullet penetrated a nearby window. Officers also found more damage from the gunfire to an additional residence.

Several witnesses told police they saw subjects in the area around the time of the gunfire.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made as of 9:10 this morning.
